Environmental Evaluation awarded a contract extension at ChapelcrossDate: 19/04/2010
Environmental Evaluation's involvement at Chapelcross began in early 2003 with the award of a contract to survey the site for the presence of asbestos. At that time the station was still prodviding electricity to the national grid from eight 30MW turbines supplied by steam from four reactors. The scope of our work was subsequently extended to include air testing and the maintenance of the station's asbestos register as well as sampling of insulating materials for analysis by the site's health physics team. Generation of electricity at Chapelcross has now ceased and the site is in early decommissioning. In 2007 Environmental Evaluation sucessfully tendered for the continued provision of specialist inspection, testing and data management services. The contract was initially extended in 2008 and again in April 2009 and April 2010. Environmental Evaluation has operated a semi permanant office and UKAS accredited laboratory on the Chapelcross site since 2005.
