BT award new contract for T3 surveys

BT plc has awarded Environmental Evaluation a contract to undertake further Type 3 Asbestos Surveys on the BT estate. Environmental Evaluation have been supplying asbestos surveying, testing and consultancy to BT for many years and has been undertaking type 3 surveys on the BT estate since the inception of the 21CN/LLU programmes. The project specific surveys have to be delivered rapidly to allow BT to meet the requirements of the regulators.

The contract involves undertaking Type 3 surveys as part of the work allowing other licensed operators access to the 'phone connections, so called "local loop unbundling". Once an operator requires access to the connections BT have to comply within a short timescale - and this is passed on to Environmental Evaluation. Before starting on the necessary building alterations to BT's contractors need to know the location of asbestos materials within the building they are working in.
