 | Susan Russell was awarded the Ted King Prize for occupational hygiene at the British Occupational Hygiene Society's annual conference in Harrogate at the end of April. The prize is awarded to the outstanding candidate amongst those awarded the Certificate of Operational Competence in Occupational Hygiene in the previous year. Susan is Deputy Manager of Environmental Evaluation's occupational hygiene team and several of her colleagues were present at the conference and saw the presentation of the award by the BOHS President at the Society's annual dinner at the Majestic Hotel in Harrogate. | Magnox North has extended Environmental Evaluation's contract to provide specialist inspection, testing and data management services on their Chapelcross site. Environmental Evaluation has an UKAS accredited laboratory at Chapelcross permanantly staffed by a dedicated team. During the contract extension Environmental Evaluation will be undertaking testing and inspection associated with the ongoing maintenance of asbestos on the site as well as with asbestos remediation and removal associated with the decommissioning and dismantling of the generating plant. Environmental Evaluation has been appointed by the University of Birmingham to a framework agreement for the provision of asbestos sampling, analysis & surveying. The framework will operate for a period of four years and has an estimated value of the order of £2,000,000. The overriding purpose and objective of the Framework agreement is that Environmental Evaluation will work with the University of Birmingham (through its Estates Office, Maintenance and Utilities) to maintain the highest possible standards of reliability by operating an effective service, maintenance inspection and repair service. | . |

| | In 1995, after approval from the Nuclear Installations Inspectorate, decommissioning of Calder Hall Power Station commenced. Calder Hall was Britain’s first nuclear power station, operational from 1956 to 2003. Contracted to provide asbestos monitoring and consultancy, Environmental Evaluation has had a semi-permanent office and UKAS-accredited laboratory at Calder Hall since 2005. Our team of four specialists has worked closely with the Sellafield Ltd. | BT plc has awarded Environmental Evaluation a contract to undertake further Type 3 Asbestos Surveys on the BT estate. Environmental Evaluation have been supplying asbestos surveying, testing and consultancy to BT for many years and has been undertaking type 3 surveys on the BT estate since the inception of the 21CN/LLU programmes. The project specific surveys have to be delivered rapidly to allow BT to meet the requirements of the regulators. |
